SEEK Advertised Salary Index - November

NATIONAL ADVERTISED SALARY TRENDS

  • Advertised salaries rose 4.6% in the year to November, the same as in the year to October.
  • Month-on-month ASI growth ticked up slightly from 0.3% in October to 0.4% in November
SEEK Senior Eocnomist Matt Cowgill says:
“Even as demand for workers returns to more historical norms, advertised salary growth remains persistently high.
“Growth has moderated a little from the 5.0% recorded in late 2022, but 4.6% is still strong, and substantially above pre-pandemic levels.
“If advertised salary growth remains high into 2024, this could be a sign that the fight against inflation may not be over.”

About the SEEK ASI

The SEEK ASI measures the change in advertised salaries over time for jobs posted on SEEK in Australia, removing much of the effect of compositional change. The SEEK ASI is a complement to existing data about the growth in wages and salaries in Australia, including the ABS Wage Price Index (WPI). The WPI is a measure of the pace of wages growth across the economy, for jobs that are currently occupied. The SEEK ASI provides a timely and frequent read on the pulse of advertised salary growth in Australia for vacant roles.
