Graham Goldsmith AO

Director since October 2012 and Chairman from 1 January 2019.

Graham retired in 2012 as Vice Chairman and a Managing Director of Goldman Sachs Australia after 25 years with the firm (and its predecessors in Australia). Graham held a number of senior roles during his career with Goldman Sachs, predominantly advising listed company management teams and boards, and governments, on capital market and financing conditions and transactions. He also held a number of governance related roles, specifically focused on risk management and reputational issues. Graham was also Chair of the Goldman Sachs Australia Foundation, the not for profit entity through which the firm conducts charitable works in Australia.

Graham is Deputy Chairman of Djerriwarrh Investments Ltd. He was Chancellor of Swinburne University of Technology, until his retirement on 31 January 2019. Graham is a Panel Member of Adara Partners, a director of Stars Foundation Inc and Deputy Chairman of the John and Pauline Gandel Foundation Ltd.

On Australia Day 2020 Graham was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia for his distinguished service to the community through philanthropic foundations, to education and to the banking and employment sectors.

Graham was educated at Swinburne Institute of Technology and graduated with a Bachelor of Business (Accounting). He completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard University in Boston in 2007. He is a Fellow of the Australian Society of Certified Practising Accountants (FCPA) and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (FAICD).

Ian Narev

Director since July 2021 

Ian is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of SEEK. He commenced in both roles on 1 July 2021. Ian joined SEEK in April 2019 in the dual roles of Chief Operating Officer and CEO of Asia Pacific and Americas. Before joining SEEK Ian spent 11 years at Commonwealth Bank of Australia. He was CBA’s Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director from 2011 until 2018. Prior to joining CBA Ian was a partner of McKinsey and Company.  

Ian has non-profit board roles in education and the performing arts, and advisory board roles in private equity and fintech. 

Ian holds a Bachelor of Arts and Law (Honours) from the University of Auckland, and Masters of Law from Cambridge University (International Corporate Law) and New York University (International Relations).

Andrew Bassat

Director since September 1997. 

Andrew is the former CEO of SEEK Limited. He co-founded the company in 1997 and from its inception until stepping down as CEO on 30 June 2021 he was involved in all stages of the development of SEEK’s business. In particular, Andrew drove the strategy of the SEEK Group and led the creation and development of the international and education businesses.

Prior to co-founding SEEK, Andrew was a management consultant with Booz Allen & Hamilton and, prior to that, he worked as a solicitor at Corrs Chambers Westgarth.

Andrew holds a Bachelor of Science (Computer Science) from the University of Melbourne, a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from Monash University and a Master of Business Administration from Melbourne Business School.

Andrew is the President of St Kilda Football Club.

Vanessa Wallace

Vanessa Wallace has over 30 years’ business experience, starting with the investment bank Schroders, and then as a strategy management consultant with Booz & Company (now known as Strategy&). Her roles at Booz & Company included Executive Chairman of Booz & Company (Japan) Inc, Senior Partner and global board member, lead of the financial services practice in Global Markets and lead for the strategy practice in ANZSEA.

Vanessa is an experienced director and is currently a listed company non-executive director of Wesfarmers Limited and Chairman of Ecofibre Limited.  Vanessa is also Managing Director of her own Advisory business MF Advisory and founding Chair of digital health and biotechnology company, Drop Bio Limited.

She holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from The University of New South Wales and a Master of Business Administration from the IMD, Switzerland.

Michael Wachtel

Michael Wachtel has considerable global business experience gained from advising multinational companies and involvement in numerous complex international transactions during his 35 year career in the professional services industry.

He has extensive experience in organisational leadership, finance, risk management and governance, including as the former Chairman (Asia Pacific & Oceania) of Ernst & Young (EY) and member of the EY Global Governance Council and Global Risk Executive Committee. Through his Future Fund Board role, he also has experience in global markets, geopolitical and monetary policy trends.

Michael is currently a Board member of the Future Fund, St Vincent’s Medical Research Institute and Pact Group Holdings Ltd.

He holds Bachelors of Laws and Commerce from the University of Cape Town and a Master of Laws from the London School of Economics. Michael completed the Harvard Business School Executive Program in 2011. He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (FAICD).

Leigh co-founded and was the CEO of Aconex, the world’s most widely used internet collaboration platform for construction, infrastructure, and resources projects. Founded in 2000, Aconex listed on the ASX in 2014 and was subsequently acquired by Oracle in March 2018. As CEO, Leigh led Aconex’s global growth, expanding the business into Asia, the Americas, the Middle East and Europe. Prior to founding Aconex, Leigh worked at McKinsey & Company where he consulted for clients in the financial services, media and information technology sectors.

Leigh is a director of Buildxact Ltd and Chair of LaunchVic.

He holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree with First Class Honours, a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and a Diploma of Modern Languages in French from the University of Melbourne.

Linda Kristjanson AO
Linda Kristjanson AO

Linda Kristjanson is a leading figure in the education sector with an academic career spanning four decades across Australia, Canada and the United States.

Linda was Vice-Chancellor and President of Swinburne University of Technology from May 2011 until her retirement in August 2020. She is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and the Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering.  Linda is Chairperson of the National Stroke Foundation and a Non-Executive Director of Education Australia Limited and Education Services Australia Limited.

In 2002, Linda was named the Telstra Australian Business Woman of the Year in recognition of her entrepreneurial work in health and science and, in 2017, was awarded an Officer of the Order of Australia in honour of her distinguished service to tertiary education through leadership and governance roles, strategic and innovative university reforms, contributions to cancer research and palliative care, and to women.

Linda holds a PhD from the University of Arizona, and a Bachelor of Nursing and a Masters of Nursing from the University of Manitoba.

Jamal is based in Kuala Lumpur and has more than 40 years’ experience in the South-East Asia region, including over 16 years in information technology and 23 years in telecommunications.

Jamal is currently Chairman of government-owned Prasarana Malaysia Berhard, Malaysia’s public transport owner and operator. He is also Chairman of privately owned QSR Brands Holdings Bhd and AirAsia Aviation Group Ltd.  Jamal was previously a non-executive director of publicly listed Sunway Berhad.

Jamal has served the Malaysian government in various roles, including being appointed in 2020 by the former Prime Minister of Malaysia as a member of the then Economic Action Council and of the Digital Economy Council.

Jamal’s executive experience includes being the Chief Executive Officer of Axiata Group Berhad from 2008 to 2020 and, prior to that, as Chief Executive Officer of Maxis Communications Berhad. Jamal also has executive experience with multi-national companies, including IBM and Digital Equipment Corporation.

Jamal holds a Master of Business Administration from the Portland State University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the California State University.

Rachael has deep experience in the areas of sales and marketing, customer experience and marketplaces, organisational culture and engagement, and the development of corporate environmental and social programs. Rachael’s executive leadership experience includes her most recent role as Xero Chief Customer Officer from February 2018 to November 2023, and prior to that was Xero’s Chief People Officer from early 2016. She has held various leadership roles at IBM and her background includes extensive experience across multiple disciplines in technology, financial services and recruitment.

Rachael is a graduate of the Stanford Executive Program, she has a Masters in Applied Positive Psychology from Melbourne University, a Masters in Business Administration from the University of NSW and a Bachelor of Business from Swinburne University of Technology.
