The latest SEEK Employment Report shows a decline of 7.4% in jobs advertised (y/y to September, 2019).
Community Services & Development (18.5%) lead as the sector with the highest job ad growth for September, 2019 (vs. Sept 2018), followed by Farming, Animals & Conservation (13.4%), Education & Training (7.8%) and Healthcare & Medical (7.4%).

“We are seeing a slight improvement in the market with the rate of job ad decline moderating, with September at -7.4% compared to August, which was -8.6%.
Month to month we continue to see growth come from the large employing sectors of Community Services and Development which has seen a jump from 13% y/y in August to 18.5% in September. Over the same period Healthcare & Medical jumped from 4.6% to 7.4%.
The employment demand across a wide range of roles within social services, particularly children and aged care support is a common theme. Specific roles include Aged & Disability Support, Childcare and Secondary teaching and Aged Care Nurses.”
STATE OF THE NATION: SALARY
The average advertised salary across Australia is $88,652 which is up 2.5% compared to last year (Sept, 2019). The states with the highest average salaries are WA at $90,930 and NSW at $90,422. In WA, the Mining, Resources & Energy sectors and Engineering sectors contribute to this higher average. NSW tells a similar story, with Mining, Resources & Energy and Construction contributing to the average.
